I think you misunderstood. The joy of seeing one's ideas propagated has nothing to do with the merit of those ideas, or the range of their effect. We are convinced our ideas are right (whoever "we" are), or they wouldn't be our ideas. Because we are convinced they are right, we want to see them spread, and gain supremacy. It's rather obvious, but most people never think about it that way. I am sure Osama was every bit as sure that his ideas were right as you are that yours are correct. We have plenty of hatred in this country, dressed up as nationalism. I dislike Osama's ideas intensely, but if I stoop to blind hatred, I'm no better than he is (imo).
