Could be. I've noticed that English professors are pretty left wing. At least they were when I went to school. That didn't deter me from challenging them in class, and fortunately they let me get away with it. I think it's too bad that the entertainment industry and English professors are generally leftwing, because being articulate has nothing to do with your politics. They scare people away with their antics. A lot of entertainers have lost my business by shooting off their mouths on subjects about which they knew nothing. All the accountants and actuaries I've ever known were conservative. Maybe you just don't become an accountant or actuary if you're not. I bet there are studies out there on the politics of different professions.
