It's no more absurd than the Irish trying to evict the British after several hundred years or the Yugoslavians finally evicting the Turks after several hundred years. The various Native American tribes are constantly litigating and negotiating over land claims, as well as water rights, hunting rights, and so on, after several hundred years. They have long memories, too.
