<<tell me how you think this market compares to the 70s >>

Hard to say...things were so different in those days.... I operated entirely from morning newspaper on previous day's action......also watching the tape whenever I could doing lunch break....... What strikes me looking back was that it seemed to be easier in those days to spot strong sectors/stocks in weak markets, such as '57 , '66-'67, and '73-'74. Scanning the daily NYSE tables (in those days, respectable people would not think of looking at OTC - now NASDAQ - or even Amex stocks) was a more manageable job, and large volume/large price changes were relatively easy to spot. Also. in the days when the tape moved more slowly, and covered all transactions, you could hardly miss seeing an active, strong stock - they really "painted the tape" in those days. Lots of talk these days about "bubbles"...but there have always been bubbles. Strange as it may seem today, one of my more profitable bubbles over the years (forget exactly when) was in - of all things -- vending machine companies!!

...... Afraid I may be meandering here, and not really getting to what you're interested in.... .. but won't clutter the thread anymore at this point......If you want to zero in on anything more specific, please do... but not sure anything I say can help you very much....:-)
