So neither of the above numbers could be the number of 1x subscribers IMHO. Do you read the fact sheet differently?

The top link seems to work for me.

It shows 4.862 million 1x subscribers at the end of December, up 129,000 m/m and up 4.111 million y/y.

I don't know the difference between ME Browser-Capable handsets and ISMS capable handsets. However, it appears than in November Multipack enabled handsets begin so these would probably be handsets with enough memory for BREW. They also indicate that these are a sub category of ME Browser capable handsets.

A quick search of web indicates this for iSMS

"iSMS allows you sending SMS messages to cell phones from your computer and forwards iCal reminders to your cellphone. "

ME Browser could be Windows ME or some kind of html browser. Just a guess though.
