Another option is a PC HDTV card. Access DTV lists for about $400 and even allows digital recording to HD, but I haven't found one yet.

BTW, what kind of output format do the cable companies use for their HDTV-output convertor boxes? Do they have component video and digital audio (coax) outputs, or do they have a UHF antenna output on coax? (Hopefully the former, like most of the old cable boxes, which used to have RCA video and stereo audio outputs.)
