I can see that if tech spending holds up ( and I think it will) , that they will beat Dell Perhaps by a bundle.[
But I am not in a position to hold thru that kind of volatility in Dec Would have sold within a week.
On Jdsu I was impressed with their ability to lose money like they did on that Sdli buyout..I would want a promise that they wont do it again

I may try calls on Yhoo or Sunw on the 15 th or 16 th.

John,

Re: It will be interesting to see if this holds up thru this year

Way back in October 2001, in need of some $$, I sold Jan 03 30's...50 contracts. Great premium. Figured I would have to let the shares go or roll them in the ensuing 15 months. Now I can re-purchase them for 5 cents, but will not even pay the trading fee. Let them expire worthless.....great long term capital gain. Dell 4 points away from 30. Crazy world!

Cheers,
kaka

John :
I can think of a way to make it easier to hold those stocks
1. Assume Jdsu was a new IPO in November and you got it on the cheap. Less then $3?
2. They have a tested product with known customers and channels
3. They knew who their poor workers were and kept only the best( perhaps 33% )
4. They have known the good times and parties and and the options and will work hard to get them back
5. They will be very cautious with money and bank loans since they came within a whisker of losing everything
( meaning their Executive positions and retirement benefits(g))
I have to quit before this sounds like too good a deal and go buy some.
( Pretty cheap symbolic IPO, tho, it would have helped if they had re-named the company.
Regards
Sig
Treating it like an IPO also means to expect volatility, similar to todays market, and not to go overboard on investing in it.
