SearchRE,

The real key to understanding what is happening with the media is to look at the ownership. Being concentrated in corrupt corporate hands as I write.

Re: The media in general is not reporting like they used to. Are they brainwashed(I doubt)?

The reporters know that their livelihood rests on brown nosing the managing editors who brown nose the corporate owners who only have an interest in profit and preventing investigations of their malfeasances. A lovely circularity that creates disinfotainment as its ultimate product. Orwell would not be surprised at these developments.

Re: Getting nice weekend vacation all paid by the Repugs?

And in collateral damage to democracy, the Repuglican leadership has just deigned that it's swell for NGOs to pay politicians for stays at resorts. As we know, NGOs such as American Enterprise Institute, ALEC, Cato, etc. are mouthpieces for the corrupt corporate interests. A nice circularity here, with everyone getting a payoff to play the corruption racket.

Re: Being influenced by the polls suggesting Americans want their president protected from media attacks(as evidenced by the rise of right-wing FOX News)?

In this the public is like a cuckolded spouse who doesn't want to believe that a leader like Bush could be so guilty of betrayal of the public. That's too crushing for a public that thrives on being led rather than thinking for itself.

Re: The bottom line is: the media has gone soft.

Yupper, dimming down America for fun and profit!
