The monolithic media doesn't work anymore.

It will be interesting to see if that's the case.

You and I probably have vastly different opinions of what constitutes "a range of views" in the media. I haven't seen the more anti-Bush end of the range, except on the internet. The regular media looks pretty homogenous, compared to what the reporters themselves think, which indicates they santize their reports heavily. E.g., John King, CNN's chief WH correspondent says the WH press corps is "amazed" at how Bush is being sold to the public as being somehow in charge, yet all stories that go out have to show that POV. Etc.

OTOH, there are occasional reports disputing various claims about the state of the economy, war, and legislation that are slowly beginning to question what we've been told since 9/11, and about the war in Iraq.

So maybe you're right about that. I hope so.
