If a company falls under the protective cloak of the law, I believe the law must also protect that company's competitors. How? Tough question. But somehow they must not be allowed to undercut their competitors by using bankruptcy as an advantage. That just spreads their illness amongst their peers.
Sorry I have not followed HD & Lowes with enough interest to offer any opinion on them.
best, Scott

Well what about CSCO?
Claims to be stealing market share.
OK from who, JNPR? Yeah righ.
CSCO not making it with routers, so decides to get in fiber channel space to compete with BRCD QLGC or whoever.

DELL stealing market share from Gateway.
But PCs are not selling good anywhere so it decides to compete in storage business as well.

Target puts up stores right next to WMT. Does this do any good?

Everyone is trying to go nuts no "stealing market share".
Expansion at any cost. I think if I ran a business I would not sell stuff for a loss. If someone wanted to steal share from me, I would make damn sure they did so at a loss.

Right now, no one cares. Everyone wants to grow revenues at any cost. Most lie to accomplish it. CSCO "wrote off" billions in inventory. Then claims 80% margins by selling that inventory. This was out and out criminal IMO but the SEC will do nothing about it.

All this comes down to good business practices.
With everyone everywhere doing anything and everything to steal market share, I am hard pressed to find good business practices.

Even if a company had them, others wanting in on the turf makes it hard for everyone. And to top it off, there is deflation because of lack of demand.

The mess has to end badly for almost everyone.
The question is when?
