Yes, I remember those days.

I also remember the girls I went out with being quite clear that they did not play around before marriage, because there was no birth control and they weren't about to risk getting pregnant. And for my part, I was entirely with them, because I had no interest in being a father until I was quite ready for it.

Deferred gratification seems not to have much cachet today, though.
