[World DRAM Price] 256Mb DDR DRAMs Fall Below US$7 in Spot Market
January 14, 2003 (TOKYO) -- According to a survey on the world DRAM prices conducted by ICIS-LOR, the 30-day moving average prices of 128Mb DRAMs (PC133, 16M x 8 bit) for large-volume users ending on Dec. 20, 2002 (Nov. 21 - Dec. 20) were US$2.03 in North America, US$2.08 in Europe and US$1.68 in Asia.

ICIS-LOR has bases in London, Houston and Singapore.

From the results for the previous week (the 30-day moving averages ending on Dec. 13), the prices fell by 1.58% in North America, 2.14% in Europe and 1.39% in Asia.

Regarding the prices of memory modules, the spot prices of 128MB DIMMs (PC 133) increased over the previous week by 1.30% to US$14.21 in North America, by 1.72% to US$13.48 in Europe, and by 8.84% to US$14.80 in Asia.

The 30-day moving average prices ending on Dec. 20, 2002 increased, except for the spot prices of 128Mb Double Data Rate (DDR) DRAMs.

The prices of Single Data Rate (SDR) DRAMs remained steady due to the production controls of manufacturers. On the other hand, the prices of both 128Mb and 256Mb DDR DRAMs declined in the spot markets.

The daily prices of 256Mb DRAMs are falling to prices lower than US$7. The gradual influence of these spot prices on the decline would bring the prices of 256Mb DDR DRAMs for large-volume users in January 2003 down below US$7.
