I've always found this position a bit odd.

The Constitution was written to be flexible and easily changed.

Jefferson wrote that no generation should be able to legislate over another, that that was a form of tyranny.

It was the idea of the founding fathers that men should govern themselves.

The idea that they should be governing us is just as absurd as the idea that they would be governed by others far away in time or geography.
