So AMD's grand plan is to have UMC produce all their 32 bit processors (which shouldn't be too hard, since this is non-SOI and AMD apparently "shared" the relevant tech with them), while Dresden churns out Hammers all around?

I guess that is the plan, assuming that UMC can make the .13u processors and assuming that AMD can sell more processors than the entire output of Dresden.

I don't see UMC ever making a meaningfull amount of Bartons (or any other CPU) for that matter for AMD. Maybe some in late 2003 or early 2004 as AMD fully ramps Hammer at 0.13 micron and starts to convert to 0.09 micron but, not before then. I don't think their sales volumes or UMC's process capabilities will justify it.
