Last time I heard Mary Matalin

41 liked her. 43 does not. I Picked that up in the "Rumors" out of Washington at the time of her resignation. Maybe she missed too many Bible Study meetings. :>)

Frum's take on Rice was interesting. I had the feeling he likes her. (Inside comment about Foreign Visitors to her staff, "OK, what Thugs have you got lined up for me to see next?). She was a protege of Snowcroft, but has broken with his thinking to line up more with the Hawk side. Her only power base is Bush. Very cautious. Says things like, "I can accept that," rather than "I agree."

Frum's remarks about Snowcroft were interesting in the way they tie Henry Kissinger to our present anti-war crowd. Points out that Henry believed that instability was worse than Dictatorship. Says that was the principle Snowcroft used in advocating that 41 leave Saddam in charge. "Instablity" is always one of the reasons given here against invading Iraq.

One final bit from the Book. Salmon Rushdie met with Frum after 911 and Frum discovered he was barred by the FAA from flying. Seems he was on a list of people that the Government felt were under threat of attack by the Muslims, and they did not want him on a plane. Can you imagine if MLK had been put in house arrest because the KKK was after him? Took three months to get him back on flight status.
