My sin is that I am in the financial top 10 percent of the country - those making $100,000 or more - the 35 percent tax bracket, a member of the so-called rich.

That always strikes me as a surprise. Some fokes even think $50,000 a year is rich. That's dang sick.

In 1930 a hunerd grand was money, but not now. Its still a chunk, no doubt. But rich? Hardly! Heck, try and take a dang family of nine to Europe for a bit and see how fast that dang hunerd grand dwindles. It ain't even close to being rich, at least not here in NY. And it's not rich in Washington and quite a large number of other places in America. It's just $1000, a hundred times. What, a puny mortgage of $1000 for just 8 dang years; and yall know your mortgages are a heck of a lot more than dang a $1000. Dat just ain't a whole friggin' lot, especially as Congress sits each year and does its thing.

So if a guy has worked his butt off to get a hunerd grand a year, folks really ought not look at him as if he's living the dang lifestyle of the rich and famous. They should just leave him alone and let him keep as much of his money as he can keep. He likely ain't making a hunerd grand in dang Peoria (or, you know, some liddle town). Likely he's livin' in some big expensive city, and that means he's trinta hang in there priddy much like the rest - maybe just in a betta cah or in a liddle bigger house and stuff, but he's still jugglin' pennies here and there for his fyootcha.
