This is an interesting view. What effective and non-violent resistance do you feel they could have carried out?

My goodness.. where to start??!! How about peaceful rallies either in Jerusalem or in Israel (since without the violence their borders would not be closed as they have been for several years now). How about putting a few flowers into the rifle barrels of those Iraeli Galils and Uzis?? How about actually giving international human rights activists a cause they can actually be proud of, and not have to constantly find excuses for??

How about teaching tolerance and cooperation, building ties with the Israeli community and gaining their acceptance as a partner in regional development?? In fact, you might even be able to prevail upon them to give you citizenship in the mean-time... In other words, everything that does not give them an excuse to deny you what you believe you have a right to claim.

Very simple.. Arafat could have been a Gandi.. But instead, he chose to be a Castro.. a Che Guevera.. A Saddam Hussein.. He wanted to be a fearsome conqueror and his followers were just the same way.. Conquer the Jews, kill them all, and take what they believed should be theirs (since the Arabs had already taken everything else).

But being a peaceful resister is not in the Arab mentality. It's not "honorable".. It's lacks flair, glory, and denies them the ability to tell of their warrior deeds around the fire with their children...

And for that reason the Palestinians bleed and suffer.. And will continue to do so until the desire to stop fighting and have a future is stronger than the desire to seek their own glorious self-destruction...

And btw, Gandi may be considered a "visionary" by you or I, but he considered himself to be a very humble person with humble aspirations...

I have a feeling those kinds of people can be found.. The hard part is helping them to survive those who would seek to control the struggle via violent means.

Because this struggle is not really about creating a state for the Palestinians Zonder. It's about a select group of people wishing to advance themselves above their peers and proclaim themselves rulers of the rest of the territory. A bunch of little fiefdoms and warlords, all competing with one another to be amongst the political elite and to obtain those priviledges bestowed upon them.
