You can thank the American values of individualism and diversity for that. Not wanting to pay taxes when you are rich is not an indication of individualism but a sign of greed. Should it be that way? It's obvious you don't think so. And besides, that has little relevance to the issue of tax cuts, for even a monolithic society can believe in so-called "tax cuts for the rich."
