You don't seem well informed about the estate tax. Currently only 2% of Americans dying have any consequences from the estate tax. 98% of all Americans pay no estate tax.

There is currently a $1,000,000 exemption per individual from any estate tax. That is doubled to $2,000,000 per couple passing on their estate to their heirs. This exemption is scheduled to rise to $3,500,000 per individual or $7,000,000 per couple by the year 2009, at which time only 0.3% of all estates will be taxed.

The Republicans have lied incessantly about the nature of the estate tax. They have utterly confused the general public about this tax.
