My opinion? The current taxation system is just fodder for special interests. PAC money etc. In some case it's really out of hand.

When I was a practicing CPA Jim Wright was Speaker of the house. In one of the bills that was proposed in connection with the Reagan tax act, words to the effect of the following appeared in an almost unnoticable section:

There shall be an exemption from tax under Title [(the estate tax title, I forget)] for the estate of any decedent dying in Tarrant County, Texas, with a gross estate exceeding $12 Million.

This was a provision put in by Jim Wright to exempt one of his "buddies" from the estate tax. It was nasty, and was pulled out at the last minute. But these guys are crooked, don't ever let anyone tell you differently.
