But if it's accurate, eek.

I've seen reports of pre-teen sexual maturity a number of places. That's just the first site that Google found. I didn't read past the info I was looking for. <g> There have been a couple of TV cop shows that had sexually mature children as part of the plot line. I've seen this reported often enough that, although it could be an urban legend, I suspect it's probably true. There was news not too long ago that early sexual maturity in girls was related to obesity. See, now we've come full circle--tied all the tread topics together...

If it is, indeed, the case, I don't think it's realistic to deal with teenage sexuality as though things were as they were in our salad days.

"When you--or at least I--come across stuff like that, it, uh, sort of casts a credibility question over the whole site."

If you had told Europeans during the Renaisance that the average age at time of death in the year 2000 would be 82, and that the projected average age at time of death in 2030 would be 100, do you think they would have questioned your credibility. And as you said the measurement of age may have been something quite different. In any event, I do not see the issue as one that attacks the credibility of the Bible. I know of some others that do but not this one.

That is a pretty drastic change that has occured in a relatively short period of time. We don't know a whole lot about the conditions that were present for Adam and Eve but I'd guess a Garden of Eden would present the optimum conditions for longevity in life. No bombardment of harmful rays from the atmosphere, stress not a factor, and the healthfood.... yeeeahhh, for example. Well, mostly we just don't know much but given what we do know about how conditions can change, I don't thing the age thing is so incredible.
