I pulled out of a toll booth and was starting to get over, but someone who had speedpass (who didn't stop at the toll booth)went through the next lane and accelerated and was starting to get a little to close so I speed up to get ahead of him. The alternatives to doing that where to slam on my breaks, to drive off the road or to get rear ended. The cop saw my car at a particular point and guessed as to what happened before that point. His guess had almost nothing to do with reality. He did not think that I was making a quick lane change rather he thought that I had crossed over a highway divider from another exit at full speed. I did no find out that he thought this until my court date. He didn't see the whole thing, if I fought it I might have gotten off with no penalty and I probably at least could have gotten the "improper driving" or a similar charge, but paid a much smaller fine, but I didn't want to take the risk of getting the reckless charge so I took the plea.

I forgot to mention. About the same time that this happened I also had to spend over $700 for car repairs.
