With genetics at a more advanced stage the personality aspects of the clone and intellect could be shut down so the ethics question becomes mute.

Do you mean it become moot? Either way I don't think it would happen. The ethics question would still be very active.

At the end of the day the harvested clone is just a piece of meat with eyes and the appearance of being human.

I have a different perspective. I imagine that the clone (if successful, which I figure it eventually will be) will have a human soul of its own. No different than an identical twin would have. I worry that without a deliberate father the kid will have an identity problem but probably not as bad as the kids we have now who are abandoned by their father. In fact, we may see a better race of humans and us guys will be viewed as unnecessary as the excess drones of a bee hive. Actually they have it pretty good since they don't ever have to do a day's work. They just eat and sleep and watch sports. Only one of them out of thousands ever gets to be with a female though...lucky dude, gets to lay with the queen!
