He was a thorn in the flesh of the Jewish Establishment and a threat to the sanctity and shelter of the Temple. If that isn't politics what is? He had to be got rid of. He was a friend of prostitutes and the downtrodden - and remember the Camel and the Eye of the Needle. Republican fat cats - humility? - no siree! Not sure what he's make of a woman's right to control her own body and the abortion issue however - although no doubt this issue was current in Biblical times too - not much has changed in the world. Talking here about the Jesus of the New Testament - if true - or else a collaboration of writers 60-100 years after the events where there was no written record whatsoever. But that's another issue and the problem for many who can't believe.
