<The complete story is that Gould's marijuana use was to ameliorate the symptoms of and pain caused by his incurable abdominal cancer. >

Yea, lots of people dont' agree with medicinal marijuana use is what I meant.

<As to your contention: >>since people were'nt "thinking" or talking to themselves in their head like we do<< - there is not a shred of evidence that the human brain 5,000 years ago was anything other than identical to the brain that sits in your head right now. >

I'm not contending anything, I'm explaining what I think he meant. Although I'll point out even Gould would more than raise an eyebrow if you came blabbering into his office claiming the human brain is the same as it was 5000 year ago. Speaking of no schred of evidence.

<fer chrissakes. 5,000 years ago humans were most definitely NOT wandering around in an unconscious state imagining that the voices in their head came from God. >

Yea, whatever, I'm not arguing the point... although I'll point out that all sorts of people STILL think the voices in their head are god -ggg- :) Besides... it is totally unscientific for you to say such a thing.

<Jaynes' ideas are theological crap. >

I must have missed something... I didn't catch that part, I thought he was using 'god' talking from the perspective of the people back then... didn't read the religious stuff I guess? I certainly couldn't see a University like that keeping a total religious nut case around, what did I miss?
