Dear Michael: You know, my wife and I were just discussing the state of American Politics over the dinner table last night. We are VERY concerned for the Future of America. It seems to us that the Democrats have degenerated into a party of pure hatred and obstruction. Sure, there are some decent Democrat Politicians but their leaders do not seem to us to even be PATRIOTIC. They seem radicalized to the Democratic Party and TO HELL WITH THE USA. As you point out, they immediately attack the slightest thing, blowing it out of proportion if it will help THEIR party. We are not RADICALS ourselves, my wife is a Filipina American (Ie not naturalized), she has a great deal of difficulty understanding WHY someone like Daschle would attack his own country for political gain. It seems the Dems are bent on Polarizing Americans one against the other whether it be INCOME, RACE or Political party. Thats not good in our judgement for the future welfare of our great nation. jdn

When I read your post, I understand the point you are trying to make. But in your method I see the sameness of the dems argument. On a basic level you have equated dems with all. Underlying all is a simple Christian idea. I believe that people can learn and have a change of heart. The dems donot. dems only believe they have the power to change their hearts as all others are evil. So it is natural of them to say Bryd is converted and any who oppose them are samo samo. You make the samo samo argument. Whatever one associates with the word nigger, what vile or evil or depravity, when Byrd stated that people of any color can be like that, he was telling the truth. That is far different than the unstated implications of Lott's words. I don't condemn Lott's or Byrd's words. One was speaking a truth and the other stated, I think in ignorance, an idea that had very negative implications. For many of Byrd's actions I consider the guy a sludge.
