I think the proliferation of DNA evidence in trials lately has made me more opposed to the death penalty than I used to be... I'm actually sort of on the fence about the issue of the death penalty after watching plenty of habitual criminals get out only to murder again in California... but the problem is, there are a huge number of high profile cases where the cops agressively pursue the wrong people and the only way to definitively prove this is with DNA... I am surprised at the number of bad arrests or indictments.

The Joan Benet ramsey case was another one where the cops went after the wrong people and finally the DNA evidence comes out and it is not a match, sure not a death penalty case but these people's lives were ruined
