Well, so far the "new economy" stalwarts have been disastrously off the mark... I see little reason to given renewed credence to their predictions, in a day when Yahoo is falling due to unmet overhyped expectations.

what is your prediction for etail growth rates holiday 2004? Its a tough guess because it hinges on the economy I know.

BTW wrt "new economy bashing" how much have you bears done for me lately... I admit we had a brutal bear that nobody on the bullish side foresaw that lasted march 2000-july 2002... but we have been in a tech mini bull since either july or october and shorting into this has been a disaster... then we had no santa rally and I know for a fact bears shorted into that assuming new lows... wipeout... so where does this hubris come from anyway?

I can buy a stock like ciena long, lose half of it and wait it out until it recovers to my buy price... (which is exactly what happened) otoh a short, shorts ciena at 4 and it goes to 7 he's toast that is the reality
