As it applies to the Arabs, who are now only emerging from their own colonialism (aside from Zionist colonialism), you wish to have them immediately come to a state of democracy as it is only now practiced in the West.

Why are you so hell-bent on excusing these corrupt Arab elites who rule these countries?? India managed to achieve democracy within 1/2 the time that other certain Arab kingdoms/dictatorships have had.. (Saudis have been ruling since '30s)..

we will have to make our move on them like any imperial power would have done in the past. Only problem is, they are willing to die for their rights just as other people have had to die for theirs.

Actually, I don't think they are particularly "willing" to die (except the Islamic militants).. Most Arabs soldiers don't have a choice in the matter.. Certainly not in Iraq..

And the Israelis exist. You and the Arabs can't seem to get over that fact. You think you can just wish them out of existence.. But they ain't going anywhere. And they have a nuclear insurance policy that guarantees any nation making the attempt to destroy them will find itself turned into an obsidian parking lot.

And in all the years they've had that nuclear capability, they have not sought to use it aggressively. In fact, they maintain secrecy over whether they possess them or not...

That would not be the case with an Arab dictator getting hold of one. They would use it as political leverage aimed at forcing all the other Arab states to pay homage to them.

I have little doubt that Israel will never use nuclear weapons except in self-defense (with their existence being threatened).. And this is because the Israeli government would have to answer to its own people.. It's own political process, were they to do so..

But the Arab dictators and kings only have to answer to themselves and their close-knit elites with which they share power.

Kim Jong Il is a prime example of what would happen were Saddam to obtain nuclear weapons. Because with control of the region's oil supply up for grabs, he'd have FAR MORE incentive to engage in some brinksmanship.

Not only do you know little about the Middle East, but you know little about the United States if you honestly think that "30 years ago women and minorities without true freedom to pursue academic and professional goals" in the United States.
