Hi Jack, RE: "The Asian economy seems to favor generic computers cheap as possible. This favors seems to favor Samsung vs. Intel "

How does this favor Samsung over Intel, when Samsung's notebooks (P10, T10, Q10) all use Intel's chips:

"Enhanced performance with Pentium III-M LV processor"

samsungelectronics.com

But it's a bit sad to think our USA PC mfgs may be setting themselves up to go the way of the USA auto mfgs, back when US mfgs couldn't stay on top of Japan auto consumer designs. At least HP/Compaq has some potential with their consumer design talent. Dell currently does not appear to have the consumer design talent to stay competitive with the overseas players, but then, Dell's not a consumer store product so they can get away with that for a bit. Whatever the case, at least the software and chip get to stay Microsoft/Intel. I think the biggest threat to Intel is Via, maybe indirectly Sony depending what fairs out there in the long-term. Intel should go into overdrive on patents in the communications space Sony/IBM/Toshiba will be entering. (And Microsoft should too.)

On another note, thanks for the excellent conference call notes. Much appreciate it!

Regards,
Amy J
