No, I didn't say that at all. In fact I made it clear that immigrants continually come here and subsequent generations raise their standard of living and are assimilated. In a sense I was agreeing with your assessment that the immigrants will demand higher wages as they become assimilated. But more than that I was pointing out just how long this condition has existed and while every single generation of Americans has complained about foreigners coming in and working for less, Americans continue to enjoy a standard of living that is higher then the majority of the world's population. This is what has continually driven people to migrate here.

Also, do you have the evidence that California's economy depends on illegal immigrants? You mean SV comanies are meaningless when compared to domestic help and lettuce pickers?

Drive out to the Central Valley some time. If you examine the GDP of the State of California I think you'll see that an enormous percentage comes from agriculture. When you decide to take that tour of the Valley make sure you brush up on your Spanish beforehand.
