TigerPaw, you are wrong. The median household income for non-hispanic whites was $48,800 in the Midwest (in 2000). The median household income for non-hispanic blacks was $29,241. Between 1990 and 2000, the median household income for whites went up $5,385, for blacks - household income went up $4,391 (roughly $1000 less).

In the South, 2000 median household income for non-hispanic whites was $47,743 (less than the Midwest). The median household income for non-hispanic blacks was $31,003 (higher than the midwest). Furthermore, between 1990 and 2000, the household income grew by $5030 for whites and $5008 for blacks.
