Understood...I wanted to be sure no one thought I was criticizing Softee or Gates for initiating a dividend, or against it being tax-free. Agree with you on the political realities, it's strong ammo for the opponents of the dividend tax elimination.

That's a good argument against democracy, that under democracy an ignorant public is just herded from one so-called issue to the next. The public does not have a choice or a vote in the true sense of those words, and quite possibly cannot. -ng-
