I think there's far too much optimism built into the mkts right now, as there usually is at the start of a new year. But nasdaq 700? no way. I'd say nasdaq 1250 or so, a bottoming out sometime in the next 7-8 months along with a lot of doldrums and boring mkt action, then a fairly strong close to the year.

I agree re tech inventories now in place. Much tech spending occured to get through Y2K and that stuff is aging fast. On the other hand surveys of IT mgr's spend plans don't show much hope right now.
