So you disagree with people like Bill Clinton and Kofi Annan? They are firmly committed to the U.S. having WMD, while seeking to disarm Iraq. Why? Because we are righteous and Iraq is evil, that's why.

Bush 41's team gave three separate signals that Iraq's dispute with Kuwait was an "Arab on Arab conflict" on which we "had no opinion", to quote Ambassador April Glaspie. This same message came from the State Department three separate times.

I knew about April, but not about the 3 separate signals. I just did a quick Google search, and found this:

"Further encouragement was given to Saddam in Congressional testimony delivered by Assistant Secretary of State John Kelly on July 31, just two days before the Iraqi invasion. When asked by Rep. Lee Hamilton if the Uniyted States would come to Kuwait's defense if it were attacked, Kelly replied, "We have no defense treaty relationship with any Persian Gulf country."

Not sure if this is a reliable source:

Okay, here is the whole smorgasboard of American green lights to Saddam:

Who lost Kuwait?

When Saddam Hussein was obviously preparing to invade Kuwait, why did the U.S. semd signals that it would not interfere?
