In your opinion, that is. Certainly not by virtue of any corroborating, essentially irrefutable evidence.

Can't be!

Why?

'Cause those who must enforce your so-called deterence themselves become murderers, the only difference being the follow-up murder gets state-sanctioned.

Imagine teaching a child growing up: "When you grow older we're gonna teach you that killing people is good.!"
