I would argue that the buck is being hit because foreigners are waking up to the fact that the U.S. economy is in deep doo-doo and they don't relish a double smack to the teeth.

Company profits have been in implosion mode now for many moons and show no signs of having a ghost of a chance of turning back up. The U.S. debt picture is a nightmare (government, corporate, consumer,.... take your pick) so as the profits stagnate and the interest payments become ever more onerous, where's the upside to owning stocks? They may be dumb, but "they ain't clear stupid". (g)
