the initial value problem in the differentials means that some outcomes are essentially, non-deterministic.

I think I'm agreeing with you, but some I am using some terms in ways that you are not. Non-deterministic: A change in initial conditions has no effect on whether something is deterministic, although it has a great effect upon whether something is predictable.

Deterministic just means that once the initial conditions are set, the effect will unfold in a definite and precise way. Predictable means that enough is known about the initial conditions, and there is enough information capacity to compute the subsequent reactions. A deterministic system will always come to the same final result for the same initial conditions, a non-deterministic system will not.
