13:08 ET Spot gold slips 0.3%; XAU off 1% : After some choppy trading earlier, gold is close to unchanged on the day today despite the Dollar's further weakness. The metal is up 4+% in January so far and 27% year over year. Hearing that many longs plan to hold on until war breaks out and then ditch the positions. Regardless, the high-priced metal is fixated on the USD, and the USD can't get out of its own way.
