Ashley: Retroviruses are reverse transcriptase RNA viruses. Insertion is what they're all about. They insert at many places in the genome, and insertion-related mutagenesis has long been a concern. Neither adenoviruses nor naked DNA are insertion-dependent. These systems are night and day stuff. There's no rationale to extend retrovirus observations to other vectors, and regulatory agencies will now try to assure that benefit outweighs risk, IMO. Rick
