"if this continues for too long and people get annoyed"

Hey, someone should use this space...the INTC group has dwindled to almost nothing....what used to be the most active forum on SI is now barely breathing..... but I just have one more comment OT.

The Deficit Reduction Act of 1993 was passed without a single republican vote.

The Balance Budget Act of 1997 which closed the remaining deficits was passed with strong bipartisan support.

If they're annoyed, let them go to the Maniban thread.

Since so many threads here are either empty or are filled with nonsense about "Go 49ers!!," how could discussion of the implications for tech companies of the new dividend proposal possibly be considered off-topic or annoying?

To the Droids, sure, as AMD is unlikely to be able to pay dividends until it someday has profits, i.e., probably never.
