TP,

I recall I was fully engaged with my business at the time and hardly paid any attention beyond the headlines. After reading John R. MacArthur's brilliant "The Second Front", I realized how duped the American public was during this episode.

One thing that is certain is the Bush 41 had advanced notice of Hussein's intentions and Bush didn't lift a finger to try to stop the invasion. I have to believe that there was a scheme being hatched before Saddam stepped into the trap.

The fact is, Saddam's indiscretion was an $80 Billion windfall for the Department of Death, and a continuing excuese for the existence of the most bloated, distorted and dangerous military machine since the glory days of the Third Reich.
