This discussion concerning the Iraqi peoples willingness and ability to rise up and throw off Saddam is amazing to me! In 1990 they tried. Nearly 3/4 of the country rose up in rebellion against Saddam. No need for a referendum. Unfortunately GHW Bush made the catastrophic decision to abandon them. Aaaaargh. :o{
