Well of course I'm joking :o)

BUT only in a sense.... My two kids portfolios (RESPs and In trust accounts have routinely outperformed my other investments and of course we all have the same money manager, me ;o)

What effectively transpires though; is routinely (about once a month) I sit down with the kids and explain what I'm doing. How their money grows etc. Now of course (bearing in mind now the old do as I say and not as I do thingy) this time spent also reinforces in me the requirement to 'stick' to my rules. The 10 year old is quite effective now at challenging me, (so far so good) in a rational manner and the 3 year old well yes, he just wants to keep all his money (interestingly enough he already 'gets' saving for something big which is a milestone). On balance this has proven for me to be an effective set of checks and balances. I don't want them to have to learn about money the hard way like I did and the majority never seem to do... So in a way he did tell me ;o)

On the other hand I tried doing this with my wife and it just didn't work. She'd only want to buy CSB's and I'd never get to retire...

regards
Kastel
