I don't understand the logic that puts people in such an environment. It's insane.

My mother lives in Del Mar, where things are bad but not quite so. My step-father's daughter and her husband had a house to sell nearby. It's a nice house with a swimming pool, but not really want we want. My mother suggested that I buy it. "How much, Mom?" I said. "$750,000." "Mom! If we bought that house it would take every cent of my retirement income and we would have no money at all left over for eating and other essentials." I'm just a low-level government employee. You have to be a rich lawyer or work for Oracle or something in order to buy that house.

Oh I was only expressing my concern that things have come to this here....

One of my dear friends recently bought a 30 year old, 1900 sq foot ranch style house for 770K in as-is condition, they got it cheap coz it is right on highway 280. The noise drives me nuts every time i visit them. The mortgage is over 7K per month !
