When a major controls the play and the company in effect the play has ended at least for a while. MPV's value lies in what earnings participation they can have way down the road. How far and how much is a thorny question. Usually major producer's deals don't allow much and usually lead to lawsuits when payments are not made according to what people think was coming to them. I don't believe Noranda has ever paid a net profits royalty in its history. This factor has to weigh on the minds of the more knowledgeable investor. It is easy to get earn in deals, hard to get carried and harder still to control the other guys accounting or forensically account it. Bottom line is MPV will have to use lawyers to get their money.
