I thought we were past this kind of political talk in this country.

"Fronts" are a political tool that are used because they work, John. I bring it up, as I do all types of "technical politics" items, to demonstrate a point without getting partisan about it.

If you are an activist, you don't want to start from scratch each time an issue comes up. You want to have a functional organization set up to give you a running start on turning out people. If you are a group of Socialists, you know you will not have good results running an anti-war campaign as "Socialists for peace" so you put a front name on it. This is normal political behavior, nothing inherently evil about it.

Segregationists have used this type of "Citizens for" approach for years in the South. NRA types will find a Front name when they want to sell an idea and get other people involved. The Major Parties do this all the time. When I got involved in Vouchers in Calif, we used a "Citizens for" name, but we were almost all Libertarians. And these "Anti-War" Fronts are almost all Socialists at the activist core. "Thats Politics!"

Semi-OT: I saw parts of the ‘protest’ broadcast yesterday. Others here commented enough on the event… I’d just like to share my – not even thoughts, rather, feelings – about the Korean “spokesperson”, who gave a brief speech. As she spoke, all I could think about where the people behind her… her runners. Perhaps, I am still under the impression – after having read the article about N. Korea and Dr. Vollertsen…
