Problems like racism are noticeable because of the way they affect groups of people more than individuals. I don't think you can sucessfully remedy each individual, If you don't have evidence of an impact for or against and individual I don't think you should take strong action to compensate or punish an individual. but you can produce a group result which limits the discrimination in the future. Affirmitive action doesn't limit discrimination. It nails it in place. In its most extreme form every hire or selection for admission is racist as it is done to fit some racial quota. Tim
