Rascal,
I believe that there are folks on the fringes(both right and left) that are just plain anti-american. They are few and far between but if they do their job well, they get good folks to follow them. I discovered this on the left when as a kid i marched with some of them against the war in Vietnam. It was a hard thing to balance.
Some folks in the 40s and 50s made some bad decisions following these kind of folks. I noticed some of that in the rhetoric at the saturday demonstration.
On the right, the patriot groups and White supremacists can fit that bill as well. David Duke stands out as a guy who tried to go mainstream to get support for his white supremast views.
The "American palestinians" who spoke seem to have an anti american agenda. And then there is ramsey clark who i just have no use for. Yesterday on TV Gore Vidal laughed off criticism of Saddam Hussein virtually saying Bush was more evil than saddam. Correct me if i am wrong--Saddam is a mass murderer and Bush isnt? Listening to vidal or chomsky or la carre, one might be confused on that point. Mike
