Ted, <That's true but give it time........in the first few weeks after the Zoeller comments, people were still trying to figure out what was the big deal.>

Actually, Shaq's comments were allegedly made months ago. They have only been put to light recently thanks to an Asian anti-discrimination group, and only because of the then-upcoming meeting between Shaq and Yao.

The media missed it months ago (I know I did), and they're probably going to let it slide now. At least Yao isn't going to fan the flames here. When asked whether Shaq personally apologized for the comments, Yao said, "That's a private question."

Tiger Woods said basically the same thing. And I respect both of them [Yao and Tiger] for taking the high road. Maybe it won't go any further from here but I suspect Shaq will make another formal apology.

And frankly, part of the reason why things like this happen and are not reported is because in the past, Asians have played it so low key.....letting things pass instead of confronting the problem head on. I was surprised when the Chinese Americans protested......it was out of character. Have you seen the Joy Luck Club? It talks of racism among many issues. Its one of the most powerful films I have ever seen. While it was about Asian women, it was really about all of us.

In addition, I think you take that same low keyed, Asian approach on this thread.....you call me on stuff but you don't call the others when they're off on their bs about racism. Its like C. Powell said.......reasonable men can disagree. He objects to Bush's position on AA. And he's okay with it but he doesn't agree. You can do the same.

Of course, that leads me to another issue......why is Powell where he is.....it doesn't fit with the public man. But that's a question only he can answer.
